A floor jack holds a vehicle with hydraulic pressure, and hydraulic pressure can be lost. The Ken-Tool 21007 Jack Rod Stand is the mechanical answer to that: it installs directly on the jack in seconds and, if the seal fails or the valve creeps, the load comes down onto a solid steel rod instead of onto whoever is underneath.
Rated at 3.5 tons with the pin installed and 2 tons without it, the 21007 extends from a compressed 8 inches to 14 inches, covering the working range of most shop floor jacks. It is small enough to live on the jack permanently rather than in a drawer, which is the only way a safety device actually gets used.
