Akron, Ohio – (October 25, 2012) – Although today’s truck and heavy equipment wheels are considerably safer than the old split rim wheel assemblies, they still pose considerable danger to service technicians, particularly during the inflation process. This is because a fully inflated tire and rim assembly bottles up tremendous destructive force — force that can literally bounce a 180 pound technician off of the ceiling if he’s positioned over the tire when it blows.
In fact, a standard 11R22.5 tire inflated to 100-psi has the force to hurl a bowling ball 3/4 of a mile. And earthmover tires pack even more explosive force.
The only sure protection for tire service technicians is a robust, well-engineered tire cage. And it is in this spirit that Ken-Tool has introduced what it calls the “World’s Largest Single-Piece Inflation Cage.” This new design is made from heavy-gauge steel tubing welded to a steel base and measuring 48” x 72” x 89 and guards both technicians and the shop environment against injury and damage from the explosions that stem from blown lock rings and rims on large earthmover & agricultural tires.
Designed for maximum inflation pressure up to 100-psi, the new Patent Pending cage features sturdy 10-bar construction and fits up to 29.5R25 L-3 Earthmover tire and rim assemblies. It joins a family of seven other Ken-Tool inflation cages designed for smaller truck and agricultural tires.
